This is a portrait of me and a demonstration of my skills and illustartion.
So initially I got the idea for my self portrait because I wanted to reference one of my favorite shots from my favorite anime, FLCL. Which is what you see in the first image, the robot, CANTI, emerging from the boys head. I then wanted to merge that with
the hard edge grungy PS1 era graphics to give it the polygonal and digital artifacting look. This article from Pikuma was a great resource for understanding the look. I then took a photo of myself,
cut in some hard edges, and applied a blur, noise, and a mosaic pixel filter to achieve the texture look. I finished with a cartoon doodle of myself and my cat and put it all together to achieve the final look.
